ROCKIN’ AROUND THE KINGSMEAD TREE
Starting this Friday (29th Nov), we’ll be bringing an all-singing line-up of super street food, winter bevs and extra-festive sounds to Kingsmead Square.
Live music by day, DJs by night.
Dig out your Christmas jumpers, dust off your dancing shoes, and get ready for your merriment levels to hit maximum.
Here’s the low-down on our line-up this Christmas:
Friday 29th November
THE HUCKLEBUCK (1-3pm)
The Hucklebuck are a seven-piece swinging blues band. Catch them in Kingsmead Street Food Square playing their own originals along with interpretations of some classic tunes – always with an emphasis on that authentic swing.
SIP THE JUICE (5-8.30pm)
Bristol-based groove-chooser Felix Joy, from Sip the Juice, knows how to throw a festive party. Expect the finest funk and soul classics coming out of his big box of tricks.
SATURDAY 30TH NOVEMBER
SOUL STRUTTERS (1-3pm)
The Soul Strutters are a South West-based collective of expert music makers.
They’ll be playing a hand-picked selection of the finest from the golden era of funk, soul and disco, taking you (and the bass-line) back to much groovier times.
HOT BUTTERED SOUL (5-8.30pm)
Hot Buttered Soul specialise in Boogie, Modern Soul, Deep Funk, and Crossover classics from the 60s, 70s & 80s, spinning vintage vinyl-only for that authentic sound.
SUNDAY 1ST DECEMBER
OLD MALT JAZZ HOUSE
Featuring many recognisable faces from the South West’s jazz scene, the Old Malt House Jazz Band perform foot-tapping and knee-slapping melodies spanning eras from the 1860s to 1940s.
FRIDAY 6TH DECEMBER
SIP THE JUICE (5-8.30PM)

THE CLAY BOTTOM JUG BUSTERS (1-3PM)
Bath and Bristol’s neighbourhood jugband, turning out the best of hard-hooting hokum and booty-shaking blues.

SUNDAY 8TH DECEMBER
SNAZZBACK (1-3PM)
Snazzback create collaborative compositions renowned for exploring global sounds from bass music to free/jazz and hip-hop. Expect to fall-hard for the constant stream of improvisation and celebration of infectious looseness.

Skedaddle draw inspiration from a broad range of musical greats to bring a blend of New Orleans and Gypsy Jazz, they’ve made very much their own.
